The Significant Tree Register

Central to raising the profile of all trees of significance is the Significant Tree Register.

This is intended to be a national database of trees that are considered to have met the criteria of significance detailed in the Burra Charter.

The Burra Charter provides guidance for the conservation and management of places of cultural significance (cultural heritage places), and is based on the International Charter for the Conservation and Restoration of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) it was adopted by the Australian National Committee of ICOMOS on 19 August 1979 at Burra, South Australia. Several revisions have been made since 1979.
